Week 2

The Lucky Country

Collected Poems
Banjo Patterson

Week 1

1.Text is in logical ordering. The title is easy to read in the square format. Sub title is a little small compared to the title and authors name. The font does suit the subject as it is all in the same format. The authors name is the only material that is different. Title text is easy to read. Sub text a little small. Authors name is a different font from the title and the sub. Overall, easy to understand.
The image does convey the message, as there are women on the cover. Different silhouettes of women, title of the book 'lucky girls', meaning more then one. Message is conveyed well. The image is engaging as it is repetitive. Reading the synopsis, does not make me want to pick up the book. "Nell Freudenberger writes about girls – varying stories
of high detail about the modern woman. The cover is a royal stamp collection of silhouette varying stories of high detail about the modern woman".
Defiantly a image dominant layout. Very clear from the women in a repetitive state. Two colours used. Image and text do work well together. The title is in the same format as the silhouettes of the women, which makes the cover look clear and defined.

2. Text is shaped in the form of a sad face. Text is in logical ordering. Title first, then author's name, with no sub title. Font used is suitable for the cover and is easy to read. Title in bold. There is no image on this cover. Only a solid yellow colouring. The colour yellow is a bad choice as it does not suit the title. Maybe a darker colour would have been more appropriate. It is a simple layout.

3. Text is the majority of the book cover. Text in all forms of direction, which makes the cover hard to read. Font used suits the cover as it makes the ‘busy’ concept. The image represents the lively character of Oscar Wilde as with the font. From the synopsis, ‘the lines of titles originating from Wilde act as his rays of enlightenment and glory’. Reading the synopsis, does not make me want to pick up the book. It is far too busy and hectic.

The packaging is not sustainable as it can not be recycled but the tray is sustainable as it can be recycled.

The message that the company/brand is expensive and simple. The biscuits are exactly the same on the packaging as what they look like inside. This may seem appealing to some people if they are familiar with the taste and brand.
3. What style of typography has the company used (serif/san serif/italic/bold) and what does this say about the brand?
Sans serif had been used in capital letters. This font is strong, simple and clear and susgests that you know what to expect when buying the product.
4. What materials/construction has company used to package the biscuits? In your opinion is the packaging functional?
Packaging used is made out of a cardboard like material in a rectangle shape which is convenient for storage. It has a plastic tray inside, wrapped in more plastic. The biscuits can be easily opened and is accessible. It however, can not be resealed.
5. In your opinion is the packaging eco-friendly and/or sustainable? Why/why not?
The cardboard can be recycled along with the plastic. So much plastic may be seen as unneccessary and wastful.

Week 1: Intro to Corporate Identity: Activity 2:

Week 1: Intro to Corporate Identity:
Activity 2:

What symbols has the company used to represent the brand?
Does the brand use any
Australian symbols or Icons in their design (if so; identify the symbols and their meanings).
Arnotts have used a bird, the parrot as their symbol. Arnott means 'little eagle' which i suspect they have got their image of the parrot from.

What colours have the company used to represent the brand?
The main colour is red, with white, blue and green incorporated into the logo.

What sort of message do you think the colours are trying to convey?
That Arnotts is a strong brand, by using red as their main colour. They have been running for more than 100 years so they needed to make their logo stand out from the rest.

What style of typography has the company used (serif/san serif/italic/bold) and what does this say about the brand?
Arnotts use serif, bold in capitalised letters
for their logo. They have used this typography to attract attention to the concept that they are a strong brand. Serifed fonts are more legible to read when printed, this good be another reason why they have chosen this typeface.
